Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does the room price include?

Our prices cover lodging, daily breakfast and lunch at our Coyas Restaurant, daily maid service, wifi, use of sports gear which includes kayaks, SUP (stand up paddle) gear, cruiser bikes, snorkeling gear, and a weekly margarita social. Dinners and drinks/beverages are charged to your room and settled at check out. Mountain bike and Windsurf gear is available for rent. Mexican VAT and hotel tax are additional.


2. Can I get a room without any meals included?

Our room prices include a daily breakfast and lunch, dinner is an option; you can eat at our restaurant or go out and try some of the other local places. We do not offer a no-meals plan.


3. What is the booking/cancellation policy?

A deposit of 50% of pre-tax lodging price is required to confirm reservation. Client can cancel reservation within 48 hrs of confirmation and receive full refund of deposit. After 48 hours deposit refund policy is as follows:  Full deposit refund if cancellation is 60 days or more prior to check in date; cancellations between 60-30 days prior to check in date are refunded 50% of their deposit. All reservation cancellations less than 30 days from the check-in date will not be granted a refund of the deposit payment. 


4. What is the typical wetsuit that I would need for kiting or windsurfing?

Our water temps never get below mid 70’s even in the middle of winter (Jan & Feb) so generally a shorty or spring suit (long legs/short sleeves) is fine, 3mm/2mm thickness. BUT if you are learning to water start or body dragging with your kite (i.e. spending more time in the water) you may want something thicker than that. In the fall and late spring usually all you need are a pair of shorts and maybe a 1mm neoprene top.


5. How much cash do I need to bring, do the local stores take dollars?

You will need cash for your taxi if you are getting one and for local incidental purchases. Check with your kitesurf instructor as they may want to be paid in cash. You can also use dollars at the local stores but probably best not to bring large denominations as they may not have much change. We can also exchange Pesos for USD at the office. There is a locking safe in room for cash and valuables. We take Visa, MC and Discover for your resort purchases and check outs


6. Do you rent Windsurfing, SUP, Kayaks and Mountain Bikes to walk-ins (people who are not staying at the resort)?

Yes, but our guests do have priority. That said we have plenty of gear and almost always have been able to take care of our guests and also walk in customers for gear.


7. What are the transportation options from SJD, do I need a car once I am there?

We can either set up a shuttle for you, from and to the airport, or you can check our local ridesharing web blast, or you could rent a car. In general most of the rental cars stay parked, unused, outside the resort for most of our guest’s stay. But if you decide you want to do some sightseeing or exploring it is nice to have a car, and some of the local dinner spots are more than walking distance away. We don't have a specific recommendation for car rental agency just check prices or book online.


8. I want to set up kite boarding instruction during my stay, how do I do that?

Look on our kitesurfing page to see our kitesurf instructor partners and contact them directly. They are often quite busy during the season so it is highly recommended that you arrange your lessons before arriving. Kite gear is available too, but you will need to demonstrate proficiency or have a an IKO card. check ahead!


9. Do the rooms have private bathroom, what about locking up my stuff?

All of our rooms have private in-suite bathrooms, mini fridge, a locking safe for your valuables, and a large dispenser of purified water. All power outlets are same as US, no need for electrical adapters.


10. Do any of the rooms have a kitchen or equipment for cooking?

Currently the only units which have kitchenettes are the Windscape and "Office" studios. Since most meals are provided we find that very few of our guests have any need for kitchen access.
